Taking serious note of illness and resultant
deaths in Kerala in the last few days due to Nipah virus, the Department of
Public Health and Family Welfare has issued an advisory in Madhya Pradesh.
The state government has sent Government of India guidelines to all Chief
Medical and Health officers and civil surgeons of the state for prevention
and treatment of illness caused by Nipah virus.
Generally Nipah virus is a contagious disease
that spreads among humans through large fruit bats and pigs. Among the
general symptoms of Nipah are fever, headache, body ache, cough, difficulty
in breathing, vomitting, diarrhoea, unconsciousness, drowsiness etc. People
of the state have been warned to get their health examined immediately at
the nearest government hospital on noticing symptoms of Nipah in areas where
large fruit bats are present and in localities where people have been
returning from Kerala trips.
Director, Health Services Dr. B.N. Chouhan
told that generally this disease strike in limited area. He has appealed
people not to panic and take preventive measures against the disease. Do not
consume tadi and fruits eaten by large fruit bats. Avoid going to
places where these large bats are present. Maintain distance from suspected
Nipah patients.
Medical Board’s meeting
will be held on every Friday in place of Saturday at J.P. Hospital-Bhopal
from February -2018. This decision has been taken owing to the official
holiday on second and third Saturday.
It may be mentioned that
people visiting Medical Board, used to face problems to obtain medical
certificate after getting it registered in the dispatch register. Moreover,
owing to the holiday on Saturday and Sunday, people used to wait for 2 days
to get their work done. Due to the shift in Medical Board’s meeting on
Friday, now people will get the medical certificate on the same day without
any inconvenience.
